  survey through the mangroves of Jabiru Island\, Paradise Point on the sou
 thern Gold Coast - and help search for one of Australia's tiniest and rare
 st treasures\, the Illidge's ant-blue butterfly.\nLast recorded on the Gol
 d Coast around 1990\, the Illidge's ant-blue butterfly is a mysterious and
  critically endangered mangrove-dweller that relies on a fascinating partn
 ership with ants to survive. With sharp eyes and a bit of luck\, participa
 nts in this survey may just help rediscover a butterfly thought to have va
 nished from our region - contributing real\, valuable data to the conserva
 tion of this remarkable species in South East Queensland.\nLed by expert g
 uides from the Friends of Parks Queensland team\, this relaxed 2-hour walk
  and talk through beautiful mangrove habitat offers a unique opportunity t
 o experience the magic of Gold Coast's mangrove ecosystems up close. Along
  the way\, you'll learn about the Illidge's ant-blue butterfly's extraordi
 nary lifecycle\, meet some adorable ants with heart-shaped bottoms\, and l
 ikely be fooled by a few fluttering lookalikes. No prior experience is nee
 ded - training is provided on the day.\nPerfect for citizen scientists\, w
 ildlife enthusiasts\, nature lovers\, families\, and anyone passionate abo
 ut protecting Queensland's coastal ecosystems and threatened species. This
  event is suitable for ages 16+\, and children must be accompanied by a pa
