Logan Volunteer Event – Plunkett Conservation Park Habitat Restoration
Join Friends of Plunkett Conservation Park for a hands-on conservation volunteering event focused on habitat restoration in Plunkett Conservation Park.
Plunkett Conservation Park in the Yugambeh language region protects a significant area of native bushland in South East Queensland, providing important habitat for native wildlife and helping to conserve the region’s biodiversity. Hosting a system of unique geology, from sandstone caves to granite-lined creeks – this park is a gem for rare and threatened flora including the Plunkett malleee, granite wattle, and more.
However, the park’s forests, wetlands, and open woodland ecosystems face ongoing environmental pressures from invasive weeds, habitat fragmentation, and urban development, making long-term community conservation efforts essential.
This volunteer-led group meets once a month to support practical ecological restoration and citizen science activities within the conservation park. Volunteers may assist with weed control, habitat restoration, biodiversity monitoring, wildlife observations, and environmental data collection that contributes to the understanding and protection of local ecosystems.
Perfect for nature lovers, bushcare volunteers, aspiring environmental professionals, citizen scientists, and anyone passionate about protecting Queensland’s natural environment, these community conservation days are a rewarding way to gain practical environmental experience, connect with like-minded people, and contribute to the long-term care of an important local conservation area.
New and experienced volunteers are welcome. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. This event is suitable for ages 16+, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
