Sunshine Coast Volunteer Event – Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park

Join Friends of Parks – Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships rangers for a hands-on conservation volunteering event on the Sunshine Coast on Kabi Kabi Country.

Located beside the ecologically significant Currimundi Lake, Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park protects vital coastal heath, wetlands, and wallum ecosystems that support a rich diversity of native plants and wildlife. This unique conservation area is an important refuge for threatened species and plays a key role in protecting the environmental health of the Currimundi Lake catchment.

These monthly volunteer conservation events provide an opportunity to work alongside QPWS rangers while learning about the park’s biodiversity, cultural significance, and ongoing conservation challenges. Volunteers may assist with activities such as weed control, habitat restoration, native planting, track maintenance, and protecting sensitive coastal ecosystems from environmental threats.

Perfect for nature lovers, aspiring park rangers, conservation students, bushcare volunteers, and anyone passionate about protecting Queensland’s natural environment, these ranger-led volunteer days are a rewarding way to gain practical conservation experience, connect with the local community, and help care for one of the Sunshine Coast’s most important coastal conservation areas.

New and experienced volunteers are welcome. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. This event is suitable for ages 16+. RSVP is essential.
