FrogID Week, running from 6th to 15th November, is Australia’s biggest frog count, and every recording makes a difference. By joining this guided evening walk through Springbrook National Park, you’ll be contributing real citizen science data to researchers working to understand frog populations and ecosystem health across South East Queensland.
Led by experienced group leaders from Springbrook Weedbusters, you’ll explore the park after dark, listening for frog calls, learning to identify the species that call Springbrook National Park home, and recording your observations using the free FrogID app. No prior experience is needed and all are welcome.
Nestled in the Gold Coast hinterland, Springbrook National Park is one of South East Queensland’s most ecologically significant landscapes, protecting ancient subtropical rainforest, cascading waterfalls, and a remarkable diversity of native wildlife. After dark, the park transforms into a chorus of frog calls and nocturnal activity — and this guided walk is your chance to experience it firsthand.
Spaces are strictly limited to 15 participants, so register early to secure your spot. This event is suitable for ages 16+, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A moderate level of fitness is required — the walk covers approximately 2km on unsealed bushland tracks.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to check in.
