Sunshine Coast Volunteer Event – Ferny Forest (Mooloolah River Conservation Park)

Join Friends of Ferny Forest and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships rangers for a hands-on conservation volunteering event in Mooloolah River Conservation Park.

Formerly part of Beerwah State Forest, Mooloolah River Conservation Park protects an important network of coastal forests, wallum heath, wetlands, and native habitat on the Sunshine Coast. The park provides critical refuge for native wildlife and plays an important role in conserving biodiversity within the region. Ongoing conservation work is essential to manage invasive weeds, restore habitat, and protect the ecological health of this valuable landscape.

These monthly volunteer conservation events offer a rewarding opportunity to work alongside QPWS rangers while learning about the environmental history, biodiversity, and conservation values of the area. Volunteers may assist with activities such as weed control, habitat restoration, native planting, track maintenance, and caring for important wildlife habitat throughout the conservation park.

Perfect for nature lovers, aspiring park rangers, conservation students, bushcare volunteers, and anyone passionate about protecting Queensland’s natural environment, these ranger-led volunteer days are a great way to gain practical conservation experience, connect with like-minded people, and help care for one of the Sunshine Coast’s important conservation areas.

New and experienced volunteers are welcome. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. This event is suitable for ages 16+. RSVP is essential.
