Gold Coast Volunteer Event – Nerang National Park Habitat Restoration & Citizen Science
Join a hands-on conservation volunteer event on the Gold Coast with Friends of Nerang National Park. For the first hour of this event, join Dr Kate from the University of Queensland for an Echidna Detectives Workshop to learn how to identify, protect, and contribute to echidna research!
For the second hour, you have the chance to flex your new knowledge of echidnas by looking for signs of them in the park, while you help restore natural habitat by removing invasive weeds to support the park’s rich biodiversity.
Located on Kombumerri Country, Nerang National Park spans more than 1,600 hectares in the central Gold Coast and provides habitat for over 12 threatened species, rare ecological communities, and diverse native wildlife.
This monthly environmental volunteering opportunity is perfect for anyone looking to give back to nature. Work alongside a friendly group of local volunteers, learn about the park’s ecology, and connect with others who are passionate about protecting Queensland’s natural areas.
New and experienced volunteers are welcome. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. This event is suitable for ages 16+, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
