Gold Coast Training Event – Bird Monitoring Workshop
Join BirdLife Australia and Springbrook Weedbusters for a training workshop all about birds! All are welcome, no experience is required. This event is recommended for ages 16+ and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What to expect
At this event you’ll learn about:
- Birdata, BirdLife Australia’s nation-wide bird monitoring platform
- How to conduct standardised bird surveys to contribute to Birdata’s database
- Key Biodiversity Areas and their significance to bird conservation
- Monitoring of the Springbrook Weedbusters restoration site
- Bird identification tips from local bird specialist, Melissa Whitby
Afternoon tea is provided!
What to bring
- Enclosed, sturdy shoes
- Long pants, long-sleeved shirt
- Wet weather gear (just in case!)
- Insect repellent
- Water
- Your own binoculars, if possible
